Friends are people who love and support us through thick and thin. They have our backs and give us strength when we need encouragement. Friendships are crucial to a happy and healthy life. But they are even more important when you stutter. Having a stutter is not an easy journey on a road which stutterers often brave alone. We do not meet many people like us which makes life a little bit lonely. But having a supportive friend makes things a little easier.
These friends can help carry a stutterer through trials and tribulations by being a shoulder to lean on during their speech journey. They are there to lend a helping hand whenever their stuttering friend might need one. Though, oftentimes, a stutterer’s anxiety can hold them back from making these crucial friendships.
It is never easy to be vulnerable and trust in others. But, by doing this, you are breaking down barriers and releasing yourself from what scares you. When we face our fears and charge head on into what scares us, we can overcome what holds us back. Facing our fears leads to new possibilities. Friends can make life go a little bit smoother, so I challenge you all to say hi to someone new today. You never know who will turn into a life-long friend.
